Notario Fraud in Illinois: How to Spot It, Avoid It, and Report It

"Notario" fraud warning: in many countries a "notario público" is a licensed attorney, but in the United States a notary public is NOT authorized to give legal advice or represent you in immigration matters. Only a licensed attorney or a representative accredited by the Department of Justice may legally provide immigration legal advice. Never pay someone claiming to be a "notario" for legal advice or to file your immigration paperwork — verify credentials before paying anyone for help.
